OTHER SPA CENTRES NEAR CHIANCIANO
The southern part of the province of Siena is unique in that
the volcanic origin of Mount Amiata determined its conformation.
Springs are to be found throughout the area and the therapeutic
properties of their mineral waters were known even in ancient
times.
Parco delle Piscine at Sarteano
Situated in the town of Sarteano on a plateau 573 meters above
sea level, the "Parco delle Piscine" campsite is pleasantly
shady, surrounded by green hills and with fine views of the
town’s castle. The three swimming pools are filled with natural
spring water from the Santa Lucia source which flow at a constant
temperature of 24° C and have an invigorating effect on mind
and body.

Terme San Filippo at Bagni S. Filippo
Bagni San Filippo is a small hamlet situated on the slopes
of Mount Amiata and surrounded by dense woodland. Over the
years its bicarbonate calcic waters have created calcareous
concretions resembling sculptures in contrast to the luxurious
vegetation growing along the banks of the thermal spring.
The open air thermal swimming pool is situated in a park of
well established trees, in a secluded and evocative position
close to the calcareous concretion known as “Fosso Bianco”
- White Gully. The depth of the water in the large pool increases
gradually and guests can enjoy the benefits of regenerating
hydromassage beneath the cascades of warm thermal water. The
opalescent waters and the vapour which forms during the colder
months, create a dramatic yet enchanting atmosphere.

Piscina termale Val di Sole at Bagno Vignoni
The Piscina Val di Sole is located in Bagno Vignoni, a characteristic
town situated in the Val d’Orcia at the foot of Mount Amiata.
The pool is filled with naturally hot spring water and blends
pleasingly with the surrounding countryside. The pleasure
of bathing or simply relaxing under the invigorating cascade
which feeds the pool is made even greater by the fantastic
views. There is also an indoor pool, a sauna and Turkish bath.
In the nearby spa the therapeutic properties of the waters
are used in the treatment of arthrosis, rheumatism and the
after-effects of fractures. Well worth a visit is the hamlet
built around the large thermal pool which formed the original
spa in ancient times. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that
the pool is in the centre of the town where the main piazza
is usually to be found.
