CHIANCIANO
SPA
The natural therapeutic properties of our waters were known
to the Etruscans who used them to cure a variety of illnesses.
The different types of water have a variety of beneficial effects
depending on the ways in which they are used: Acqua Santa and
Acqua Fucoli waters are to be taken at their source in each
of the parks and have a beneficial effect on the liver and gastrointestinal
tract. Acqua Santissima water is used for inhalations, aerosol
therapy and insufflations for adults and children suffering
from upper respiratory tract infections while Acqua Sillene
water is used for balneotherapy, mud baths and as a base for
cosmetics.
Acqua Santa
The "Acqua Santa" spring is in the park bearing the
same name. It has a natural temperature of 33° C and should
be taken early in the morning on an empty stomach for a period
of at least 12 days in accordance with a doctor's prescription.
It is indicated for the treatment of liver and bilious tract
complaints such as gastroenteric or bilious dyspepsia and gall
stones or after surgery of the bilious tract or after prolonged
use of medicinal drugs.
Acqua Fucoli
The "Acqua Fucoli" spring is in the park bearing
the same name and is connected by a passageway to the Acqua
Santa park. It is a cold mineral water with a natural temperature
of 16.5°C and should be taken in the afternoon when digestion
has been completed. It helps to regulate intestinal motility,
activate diuresis and has an anti-inflammatory effect on the
gastro-duodenal mucosa. It is helpful in the treatment of constipation
and irritable bowel syndrome.
Acqua Santissima
The medical department uses Acqua Santissima mineral water for
inhalations and aerosol therapy for adults and children, nasal
showers and insufflations; it has an anti-inflammatory, mucolytic
and sedative effect on the mucus of the upper respiratory system
and the bronchial tree. It is effective against rhinitis, sinusitis,
tracheitis, laryngitis, chronic bronchitis and asthmatic bronchitis,
for which inhalation therapies using sulphurous water are not
always suitable.
Acqua Sillene
Situated on the hill where the Etruscans used to celebrate their
rites is the Stabilimento Sillene where the "Acqua Sillene"
water with a natural temperature of 38.5°C is used for gaseous
carbon balneotherapy and in the preparation of thermal mud used
in balneotherapy for the treatment of ailments of the locomotive
system. It is also indicated for the treatment of disorders
of the cardiovascular system.
Acqua Sillene water has moisturizing, nourishing and energizing
properties thanks to the mineral salts it contains which together
with vegetable plankton and oligo-elements form the base of
the wide range of cosmetics "Terme di Chianciano".
